Meeting Strangers in the Streets of Bangalore

Where do I start about this day and this morning? Vidhana Soudha is a good start I guess!

Vidhana Soudha and its grandeur

The visit to Cubbon Park started with these stellar views of Vidhana Soudha. Besides one or two other places, this looked like the grandest building I ever stood in front of. And the tiny birds that gracefully appeared and vanished added more attractiveness to it.

I stood there staring at different corners of it, wondering what amount of skill, brilliance and imagination it would take to create something of this beauty and grandeur. You tend to appreciate art and creativity more after you get started with some form of it yourself.

Even though what I create are stories weaved out of mundane moments, it has given me a perspective on what it takes to create something that did not exist before.

A walk in Cubbon Park

Cubbon park looked calm and it had these vibes that greeted and invited you in. You could immediately feel a sense of relief even before stepping inside the park which is located right opposite the Vidhana Soudha.

As if it’s a reminder to not be fully lost in the magnificence of human creativity and to spare some of your appreciation and wonder for what nature has to offer as well.

How come I never came here during all those years I was in Bangalore? I almost smacked my head.

No camera please

There was a hiccup though. If you have any cameras, you better keep them packed inside because photography with the exception of mobile cameras, isn’t allowed inside the park. The moment I got to know this, I watched all around and saw scenes worthy of capturing in every turn and corner.

These scenes you are watching now were taken on a phone with a broken screen and an average camera. But I think it still managed to capture the bright and greeny ambiance of the place! You should definitely come here if you visit Bangalore.

Someone dropped something!

And then, right after I stepped out of the park, this happened and it left me thinking, “HOW DID THAT HAPPEN..”.

I knew exactly how it happened, it was my clumsy handwork…But surprisingly, it caused just a sharp pain that soon passed. Maybe the walk through the trees and the park rubbed into me some strange positive energy. Only that explains why I didn’t fall on my knees and weep at such a sad happening!

So I kept walking and I am glad I did. Because I reached a milestone that morning.

The Challenge!

One of the challenges I set for myself before I started this journey was to capture people and their faces. Why?

I like to capture the everyday scenes and it would feel lacking without actual people in it. I believe no scene looks dull with a human face at the center and its eyes staring right at the camera!

And though unknown to us, every face has its own story and these shared moments, though brief and vanishing, make them part of your life and you in theirs.

We all hesitate in doing things we know we want. Sometimes it’s out of fear and uncertainty. Sometimes it’s because of not doing what it takes. We get even more hesitant when it got anything to do with people, like asking them if you can take their pictures and clips. The fear of different possible reactions from people can push you back.

But people can surprise you and in a good way, like they did that morning.

Hidden behind the mask was my joyful face, feeling overwhelmingly happy capturing these scenes and having these quick little conversations. And it was as if every face I captured unlocked the power and confidence to ask another for their picture. As you can see, their presence made so much difference, in these clips and in the day of my life.

Needless to say, this story would never come to life if not for their smiles, stares and faces. Thanks to all the people who gave me these memories!

I wouldn’t say I conquered the fear but with the possession of all these clips, I do believe I kicked the hesitation far away. What about you? What fear is holding you back from doing what you like?
